QUETTA: At least five people were shot dead and three others sustained injuries apparently in an incident of target killing in Kech district, on Wednesday.
According to Levies Force sources, a group of Punjabi speaking people were standing at bus stop in Mand Bulo area when unidentified armed men appeared on the scene and opened indiscriminate fire on them with sophisticated weapons. As a result, five people were killed and three others received critical wounds. The attackers escaped from the scene after spraying bullets. The deceased and injured were immediately rushed to nearby state-run hospital. Two deceased were identified as Riaz Ahmed and Gulzar while the injured were included Fiaz, Shafiq, Ejaz, Sufyan and Ehsan. “The victims were waiting for bus after returning from Iran via Mand Bulo border when they were attacked,” sources said and adding that the victims belonged to different parts of Punjab, including Sahiwal and Faisalabad.
They said that three companions of victims luckily escaped unhurt in the ambushed.
“The incident appears to be a case of target killing,” a Levies official said.
The dead bodies of deceased were dispatched to their native areas after completion of legal formalities. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing so far.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani has strongly condemned the incident and directed authorities concerned for stern action against responsible.
